« What exactly is Communicative Language Teaching?»
(Business Result, English Result and Exam Result)
«For the last three decades the word ‘communicative’ has appeared in a number of guises, in phrases such as ‘Communicative Language Teaching,’ ‘the communicative approach’, ‘a communicative activity’ and ‘a communicative syllabus.’ The word has been used so frequently and so loosely, to describe so many different kinds of learning and teaching events that we may have lost sight of its original meaning.
This seminar will examine what is really meant by the term ‘Communicative Language Teaching.’ We will examine the connection between theory and practice and evaluate a number of practical activities in terms of their ability to promote language learning in a communicative context. We will also consider how successfully the principles of CLT are applied in published material, and will be drawing on examples from the Result series: Business Result, English Result and Exam Result».
